state legislative candidates or committees controlled by a candidate to
another candidate far state legislative office or committee supporting such a
candidate; and
WHEREAS, the deceptive practice of transferring campaign funds from
one candidate or committee to another usually takes place without the
knowledge or consent of the original contributors; and
WHEREAS, members of the California Legislature transferred campaign
contributions. often to each other's campaigns, in excess of $7,000+000 in
1986; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 119 would prohibit such transfers of campaign
funds except by political parties.
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED. that the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte does hereby memorialize the State Legislature to adopt as soon
as possible Senate Bill 119.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be
transmitted to the members of the Senate Committee an Elections, with the
request that they take all action necessary to effectuate the intent of this
resolution.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors, County of Butte,
this 3rd day of March, 1987. by the following vote:
