~'•~~ RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 2011 RELATING TO ER$MPTING
CTTTES AND COUNTIES FROM `PAYMENT OF'5TATE SALES TA%
WHEREAS, cities and counties in California currently must pay state
sales and use tax; and
WHEREAS, it is illogical and inequitable for one level of
government, cities and counties, to pay taxes to another level of government,
the State of California, when the source of such sales tax payments by cities
and counties is the very same taxpayer; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bi11 204, coauthored by Senators Kopp, Nielsen and
Presley, would exempt cities and counties from the payment of state sales
taxes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte does hereby memorialize the State Legislature to adopt as soon
as possible Senate Bill 204.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be
transmitted to the members of the Senate Committee on Revenue and Taxation.
with the request that they take all actioa necessary to effectuate the intent
of this resolution.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors, County of Butte,
this 3rd day of March, 1987, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Fulton. Mclnturf. McLaughlin, Vercruse and Chair Dolan
