RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF THOMAS E. EVANS
'WHEREAS, Thomas E. Evans served as Butte County Superintendent of
Schools from January 1959 through December 30, 1974, a period of 15 years; and
WHEREAS, prior to his tenure as Butte. County Superintendent of
Schools, Thomas E. Evans served as Superintendent of the Gridley Elementary
School District for eight years; and
WHEREAS, Thomas E. Evans has served the citizenry of the State of
California in the field of education for a total of 38 years; and
WHEREAS, Thomas E. Evans was instrumental in many endeavors,
including:
-- Formation of the Butte Community College District and in serving
as the initial Superintendent for the district.
-- Creation of the Migrant Education Program in Northern California
which now consists of approximately 15 counties and is the
largest of 18 Migrant Education Programs in the State of
California.
-- Establishment of the California County Superintendent of Schools
for which he is a past President.
-- Original founder of the Association of California School
Administrators which presently comprise approximately 15,000
members; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as Superintendent of Schools,
Thomas E. Evans, provided educational leadership in Butte County at a time of
dire need and brought a unity of purpose within the educational community; and
WHEREAS, this Board of Supervisors believes that the recognition of
service to the citizens of Butte County by Thomas E. Evans are long remiss.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Butte County Board of
Supervisors, on its on behalf, and on behalf of the citizens of the County of
Butte, expresses its deep and sincere appreciation to Thomas E. Evans for his
many contributions and devotion to the furtherance of professional education.

this 17th day of Narch, 1987, by the following vote:
