RESOLUTION CREATING INTERNAL SERVICE FUND
FOR TRANSIT-SELF INSURANCE
WHEREAS, the County has found itself in a position wherein. it is
economically advantageous to self-insure its Transit System for liability
insurance, and
WHEREAS, the County desires to provide separate fund accounting for
transit self insurance costs and reserves for reimbursement of future claims and
provide interim financing pending charges to benefiting transit programs; and
WHEREAS, §25260 of the Government Code authorizes the establishment
of interest bearing internal service funds which may be used for these purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED 6y the Butte County Board of Supervisors:
1. That the Auditor-Controller be authorized to establish an internal
service fund for transit self insurance (Fund 7150) to properly account for all
costs of performing this service and the allocation of the costs among the users
of the service;
2. That the County Auditor-Controller be directed to advance thirty
thousand dollars ($30,000.00) from the County's General Liability Self Insurance
Fund (.Fund 7100) to the Transit Self hnsurance Fund (Fund 7150) to provide capital
pending receipt of premium revenue, in October 1987, from transit systems served.
3. That as soon as practical after payment of premiums to the Transit.
Self Insurance Fund, the Aud itor-Controller will return the advance together with
interest earned thereon to the County's General Liability Self Insurance Fund;
4. That the County Administrative Officer, or his designee, be directed
to coordinate, monitor and periodically report to the Board on the progress of this
program.
