RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MAY 9, 7.987 AS ENDANGERED SPECIES DAY
WHEREAS, part of our priceless heritage as citizens of California has
been the rich diversity of wildlife whose home was this land long before we arrived;
and
WHEREAS, it is our responsibility as citizens to pass on to future
generations a world with as many of its rare gifts intact as possible; and
WHEREAS, the wants and needs of people need not be mutually exclusive
from those of the wild flora and fauna; and
WHEREAS, there is a need for communication and education in order to
understand our role in maintaining nature's balance; and
WHEREAS, the eighth annual Endangered Species Faire will be held on
Saturday, May 9, 1987, at the One-A1iTe Recreation Area in lower Bidwe]7 Park;
and
WHEREAS, such an event provides the citizens of Chico with an excellent
opportunity to achieve such an understanding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE50LUED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors
do hereby proclaim Saturday, h9ay 9, 1987, as ENDANGERED SPECIES DAY in the hope
that no other living thing will have to face the finality of extinction.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors invite all residents
of our community to attend the Faire at the One-Mile Recreation Area in lower
Bidwell Park.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of May, 1987 by the following
vote:
