HomeMy WebLinkAbout87-081~,o~~ ,. ~; J ~ ,~",, ;~ ~ - - - - =~ ~ '~~ •~c~: - BQARD OF SUPERVISORS `* ~ '`~ ~'~~ COUNTY OF' BL:ITTE, STATE OF CALIFC~RNlA ~ r ~ '~ _ + ~'~ ' •ai '~,.L'~ ~ Resolufion No. a~-al RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING NAY 17-23 AS TRAFFIC SAFETY WEER WHEREAS, May 17-23 has been designated as "California Traffic Safety Week" by California Office of Traffic Safety and May 18-25 designated "All American Buckle Up Week" by the National Bighway Traffic Safety Association; and WHEREAS, motor vehicle crashes are a major cause of death and disability in California and Butte County; and WHEREAS, the use of automobile safety belts is of significant value in reducing both death and disability due to injury in a motor vehicle crash; and WHEREAS, the County of Butte is pleased to commend everyone active in efforts to reduce motor vehicle crash-related injuries and deaths and supports the goals of California Traffic Safety Week and the All American Buckle Up Week. NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors that Nay 17-23 is hereby proclaimed as Traffic Safety Week throughout Butte County and directs that "Buckle Up, California" bumper stickers be attached to county-owned motor vehicles, and encourages employees while using personal vehicles to participate in efforts to emphasize the use of safety belts.
