HomeMy WebLinkAbout87-223® "'~T '° `;~~~~r x~. ~`~ BQAR'D ~OF ,SUPERVISORS ; +'~` - ~~ ''~~ CO;U(VTY,DF BUTTE, ST.AT,E OF CALIFORNL4 , IZesolufion No. 87_223 RESOLUTTON PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF AUGUST 24-30, 1987 AS BUTTE COUNTY FAIR WEEK WHEREAS, the Butte County Fair was incorporated on September 24, 1937 as the Paradise Fair and Apple Show Association; and WHEREAS, Don Brown, T. J. Glisan, Mrs. R. C. Berry, Hugh M. Smyth, Mrs. Gladys W. Wilcox, Dr. C. 0. Fuller, Mrs. Frances Breese, N. C. McCarthy and H. S. Clewett were the first members of the Fair Board; and WHEREAS, on April 6, 1939, the name was changed to the Butte County Fair Association; and WHEREAS, the Butte County Fair moved to Durham in 1939; and WHEREAS, in 1941 the Butte County Fair found its first home in Gridley at the Gridley Municipal Park and remained at that location until 1948; and WHEREAS, there were no fairs held between 1942 and 1945; and WHEREAS, in 1948 the Butte County Fair moved to its present location at East Hazel Avenue in Gridley; and WHEREAS, the present Fair Board members are Jean Minasian, Homer Lundberg, Nadine Gilliam, Joe Carlisle, Melvin Richins, J. Kay Orme, Dick Cassidy and Walt Winn. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors, County of Butte, hereby proclaims the week of August 24-30, 1987 as Butte Gounty Fair Week in honor and recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Butte County Fair. -z- PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors, County of Butte, this 18th day of August, 1987, by the following vote: AXES: Supervisors Fulton, McInturf, McLaughlin, Vercruse and Chair Dolan NOES: None ASSENT: None NOT VOTING: None Chail' of the ty Board of Supervisors MAN--.Y.
