~++a~~ #O's N~~+ RESOLUTION AUTHORZZZNG A SITING AND PERMIT ASSISTANCE GRANT
APPLICATION

WHEREAS, Butte County has an abundance of hydroelectric
potential; and
WHEREAS, the Butte County Board of Supervisors wants a plan
which balances the need for energy development with other conflicting
and compatible needs and interest in Butte County; and
WHEREAS, Butte County recognizes that it is in the interest
of the national economic to promote the development of alternative
energy resources to reduce our nations dependence on costly foreign
oil; and
WHEREAS, funds have been established by Senate Bill 992
(Garamendi) and are available for the California Energy Commission for
a grant to local governments for planning and environmental study
activities; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board
of Supervisors authorizes the submittal of an application to the
California Energy Commission for a grant to prepare an energy element
and the required Environmental Impact Report. The Butte County
Planning Director is hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the
name of Butte County all necessary applications, contracts, and
agreements and amendments hereto to implement and carry out the
purposes specified in this resolution.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors
on the 18th daY of August, 1987, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors, Fulton, McInturf> McLaughlin, Vercruse and Chair Dolan
