HomeMy WebLinkAbout87-282COUNTY OF BUTTE,,,STAT'E OF GALI~ORN[A Resolution No. s7-2s2 WHEREAS, The United States Congress and the President of the United States, as a means to encourage wholesome family life, traditionally proclaim the week in which Thanksgiving Day falls as "National Family Week"; and WHEREAS, every family unit is unique in the way in which it functions; however, successful families share the same basic similarities; and WHEREAS, successful families encourage open communication, mutual respect and trust, and a sense of responsibility for the well-being of the other members; and WHEREAS, strong families have deep roots structured in traditions, family history, family genealogy, and family plans for the future, and successful family life is never an accident but always an accomplishment of each family member; and WHEREAS, it is in the family that first and strongest impressions are made concerning self-discipline, the value of honest work, reverence for life, respect for the rights of property of others, patriotism, loyalty to the American way of life, and other values and virtues upon which the greatness of this nation and state rest; and WHEREAS, in healthy families, parents encourage the development of individuality in their children and, while safeguarding them from serious harm, encourage them to exercise their own free agency in making decisions and allow them to make and learn from their own mistakes; and WHEREAS, if society is to be preserved, the family, society's most fundamental organization, must be preserved; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Butte County Board of supervisors that recognition be given in declaring the week of November 22 through 28, 1987 as "1987 Family Week," and encourage all Butte County citizens to celebrate this week by establishing stronger family ties ahd reinforcing and instituting family traditions.
