HomeMy WebLinkAbout87-289.~ ~~~ ~.14~1TY C ~t~'7"`T~`L ~ Y~~ATEI 0~=' CAL1F41~~NiA u ~~ .~, ,I K ~; ~`~ ~' ~~ I~eso~ution No. 87-289 - RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING DECEMBER 13-19 AS DRUNK A~iD DRUGGED DRIVING AWARENESS WEEK WHEREAS, in 1985 2,543 persons died an California roadways in alcohol/drug related collisions and an additional 69,876 persons were injured, and WHEREAS, these deaths and injuries cost Californians over $1 billion annually through services provided to victims and their families, and WHEREAS, approximately 45,044 drivers involved in fatal and injury accidents had been drinking, and WHEREAS, we need informed, concerned citizens who would be willing to help reduce the needless deaths and injuries by taking personal responsibility as hosts and hostesses or devoting time and effort toward upgrading community programs, and WHEREAS, an increase in public awareness of the problems of drunk and drugged driving may help sustain current efforts to develop comprehensive solutions at the state and local levels; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Supervisors, County of Butte. State of California do hereby proclaim the week of December 13-19, 1987, to be DRUNK ANA DRUGGED DRIVING AWARENESS WEEK in Butte County and urge all citizens to learn what they can do to prevent drunk and drugged driving during the upcoming holiday season. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 15th day of December, 1987 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Fulton, McInturf, McLaughlin, Vercruse and Chair Dolan NOES: None ABSENT: None NOT YOTING: None SANE ~~,AN, ~ Ch~`air of the Butte County Board of Supervisors ATTES~':
