I ,~,~ -~~_~ ~ ~ f r ~ ` ~ s ~ ~ ~ ~~ Baa~n o~ suPER~iso~s COUNTY_ OF' BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA: ,.. resolution No. 88-014 JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE PARADISE IRRIGATION DISTRICT, THE TOWN OF PARADISE, THE PARADISE RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT, AND THE COUNTY OF BUTTE EXPRESSING INTEREST IN CONVERTING CERTAIN U. S. FOREST SERVICE LANDS TO LOCAL GOVERNMENT OWNERSHIP WHEREAS, the U. S. Forest Service (FS) administers certain Lassen National Forest (LNF) lands as shown on the attached Exhibit "A"; and WHEREAS, the Paradise Irrigation District owns and maintains certain water storage and recreational facilities located upon portions of these same LNF lands; and WHEREAS, these water storage facilities provide domestic water supply which is of critical importance to the health and safety of the Town of Paradise with a population in excess of 25,000; and WHEREAS, representatives of local government and Paradise citizens have expressed concern for the potential impacts of further land development upon such things as a limited groundwater supply, traffic densities, sewage disposal and burial sites; and WHEREAS, the FS has provided the opportunity for local government to formally declare an interest to acquire certain LNF lands located within the Magalia Reservoir watershed by submitting a resolution of interest no later than March 2, 1988. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Paradise Irrigation District, the Town of Paradise, and the Paradise Recreation and Park District, do hereby express a desire to enter into land acquisition discussions with the Forest Service and that the local government agencies shall pursue in good faith an attempt to acquire all or portions of three (3) LNF parcels identified in the attached Exhibit "A". BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Paradise Irrigation District shall be the agency to coordinate the efforts of local government in identifying needs aad desires of the various agencies and communicating with the Forest Service regarding this resolution of intention. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Butte County Boaxd of Supervisors supports the efforts of the aforementioned public agencies to acquire the identified LNF parcels. -2- PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors, State of California, this 9th day of February, 1988, by the following vote: AYES; Supervisors Dolan, Fulton, McLaughlin, Vercruse and Chairman McInturf NOES: None ABSENT: None NOT VOTING: None BASKEL A.
