RESOLUTION OF THE BUTTE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS RECOGNIZING
CALIFORNIA'S VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL DEDICATION
WHEREAS, during the period of the Vietnam War--1964 to
1975--hundreds of thousands of California veterans served their
country; and
WHEREAS, during the Vietnam War 5,822 California veterans
died serving their country; and
WHEREAS, on December 9-10, 1988, the citizenry will have
the opportunity to pay tribute to these and all other California
Vietnam veterans when the State of California dedicates its Vietnam
Veterans Memorial in Sacramento; and
WHEREAS, many activities will take place during the
dedication, including: the reading of the 5822 names representing
all counties in California which are listed on the granite walls
of the memorial, registration of veterans fnr "buddy search"
purposes, reunions, and entertainment; and
WHEREAS, a march of Vietnam veterans and their supporters
from the Capitol Ma11 to the memorial site will take place just
prior to the dedication ceremony.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Butte County Board
of Supervisors that it hereby gives special recognition to the
dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on December 10, 1988,
in the remembrance of the sacrifices of all Vietnam veterans, with
special recognition~to those 5,822 servicemen who died in Vietnam.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of November, 1988, by
the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, Vercruse, McLaughlin, Fulton
and Chairman McInturf
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
