ESTABLTSHTNG AN EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES FUND
AND AUTHORIZING AN ASSESSMENT TO FUND THE
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES FUND
WHEREAS, the provision of Chapter 1240 of the statutes of 1987
provide that a county may establish an Emergency Medical Fund to be utili-
zed to: partially reimburse physicians for patients who do not make pay-
ment for emergency medical services; partially reimburse hospitals that
provide disproportionate level of trauma and emergency medical services,
and; for other emergency medical services purposes as determined by the
county, and
WHEREAS, Penal Code Section 1465 as enacted by Chapter 1240 of
the Statutes of 1987 provides that the county may imposed an additional
assessment of two dollars for every ten dollars or fraction thereof upon
every fine, penalty, or forfeiture imposed and collected by the courts
for criminal offenses, to be used to fund the Emergency Medical Services
Fund, and,
WHEREAS, The Board of Supervisors is desirous of establishing
an Emergency Medical Services Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED by the. Board of
Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, in regular
session assembled on January 10, 1989, that effective February 1, 1989
there shall be created within the County of Butte an Emergency Medical
Services Fund as provided in Health and Safety Code section 1797.98, and
that there shall be an assessment in an amount equal to two dollars for
every ten dollars or fraction thereof, upon every fine, penalty, or for-
feiture imposed and collected by the courts as provided in Penal Code
Section 1465.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AND ORDERED that all funds collected
pursuant to Penal Code Section 1465 shall be deposited in the Butte
County Emergency Medical Services Fund.

this 10th day of January, 1989 by the following vote:
