HomeMy WebLinkAbout89-042i -~ r . , ~ .,.. n ~~ ~ ', ''~~" ` ` BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ~ ~ ~ ,., ~l'~` ~ ~a ~ ;~ . ro '~ ~ .~ + ~ ~ I•: COUNTY OF BUTT E,_ STATE C~F,_CAi_IFORNIA ~~,~ ~ •' ~i ftesolufion No. 89°042 RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING APRIL 9-15, 1989 AS VICTIMS' RIGHTS WEEK WHEREAS, crime, fear and violence continue to plague the citizens of Butte County and California; and WHEREAS, an effective and fair criminal justice system must recognize the rights of victims as well as those of the accused; and WHEREAS, victims and witnesses of crime deserve our special attention and need tc be informed of their rights in our criminal justice system; and WHEREAS, thousands of victims and witnesses of crime have benefited from the assistance by victim witness service providers in Sutte County; and WHEREAS, the observance of Victims' Rights Week focuses attention on the problem faced by victims of crime and the services available to assist them in their need, and increases public awareness of their plight, and acknowledges the coanbined efforts of concerned citizens, lawmakers and the criminal justice system to improve these services. NOW, THEREFORE, SE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors do hereby proclaim April 9-15, 1989 as Victims' Rights Week and urge all citizens to join in this important observance.
