HomeMy WebLinkAbout89-058_, '~:~ _ q =1 ~..i. ,..~F ~ ~@ i~ x, 1~OARD ~F SUPER' `"+' 1 y'~" COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE,OF ~~• '+ IZesolufio RESOLUTTON PROCLAIMING MAY 1 - 7, 1989 AS ELKS NATIONAL YOUTH WEEK WHEREAS, the Elks Lodges in the County of Butte will observe the week beginning inlay 1st as Elks National Youth Week in tribute to our Junior Citizens, honoring them for their achievements and contributions to the life of the Community, State and Nation; and WHEREAS, today's children are tomorrow's leaders, and it is the responsibility of government, community leaders and parents to meet their needs and provide inspiration and guidance for their development; and WHEREAS, by encouraging our youth to seek knowledge and adventure, challenge their limits and learn to have faith in their abilities, we can help them to fulfill their dreams and become responsible, contributing members of our society; and WHEREAS, the Grand Lodge of the Order of the Elks is an exceptional service organization that has demonstrated sound leadership and a deep affection for our youth; and WHEREAS, the Elks are actively involved in their communities, instilling confidence and respect in our children and encouraging them to meet and triumph over obstacles and challenges in schocl; and WHEREAS, as an incentive to our nation's school-aged youth, the Elks award educational scholarships and sponsor essay contests; and WHEREAS, it is important for all citizens to recognize the outstanding contributions the Elks have made on behalf of our leaders of tomorrow and the future of our great state and nation. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors that they do hereby proclaim the week May 1 - 7, 1989 as Elks National 'Y'outh Week, and call upon all citizens to cooperate in the observance, that we may attain these worth objectives.
