Resolufion 110. 89-137
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ESTABLISHNENT
OF A VETERANS CENTER IN BUTTE COUNTY
WHEREAS, approximately 15~ of the population of Butte County are
veterans; and
WHEREAS, Butte County has the largest population of veterans in the
Northern Sacramento Valley; and
WHEREAS, the closest services for veterans are in the Sacramento
area, well over one hour in driving distance; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to provide professional counseling services
in a relaxed, informal environment for past traumatic stress disorders, drug and
alcohol abuse, marriage and family needs, and career development; and
WHEREAS, there remains a goal to enable veterans to retain their
place as productive, viable members of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte, State of California that they support the concept of a federally
funded veterans center located in Butte County where our American veterans can
have a complete and total source for counseling, support and services.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Butte, State of California this 19th day of September, 1989 by the vote:
AYES: Supervisors McInturf, Dolan, Vercruse, AtcLaughlin
and Chairman Fulton
