THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DO ORDAIN A5 FOLLOWS: SECTION NO o 1 SUBJECT/AND SHORT TITLE: The salaries and number of positions of the officers and em- ployees, of the County of Butte, are fixed and determined as hereinafter set forth; and the ordinance shall be known as the "Salary Ordinance." The additional compensation paid a constable shall be based upon merit and length of service as set forth in sections 6.7 and 6.8 of the Personnel Rules. 9. SECTION N0. 5 Beginning September 1, l9bb, the classification, number and salary range of positions authorised for each department are set forth in the following sections. No department head shall appoint more employees to a class of position than is provided for except that (1) a new employee may. be appointed to a position not more than ten (l0) working days before the employee he is ~, replacing is separated; and (2) that the positions of Clerk II Steno Clerk II, and Account Clerk II, may be filled with the lower classifications in each series.
