'« ~ BOARD QF SUPERV[SORS ,~.~`;;;,''; r r~~ ;,:~~ CO.[.~NTY OF t3UTTE,' STAI"',E O~ CAi_tFORNIA , `~._ ~~ ~ F RESOLUTION IN APPRECIATION R2SOlUti0li No. 90-54 OF DIVISION CHIEF ARLEN CARTWRIGHT CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY AND FYRE PROTECTION WHEREAS, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has provided cooperative fire protection service to the County of Butte as the Butte County Fire Department since 7.931, and WHEREAS, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection Division Chief Arlen B. Cartwright began his career as a seasonal firefighter on July 3, 7.956 in the Nevada-Yuba Ranger Unit, retiring as a Division Chief in the Butte Ranger Unit on May 1, 1990, and WHEREAS, Chief Cartwright was promoted to Forest Fire Truck Driver on July 31, 1959, then Forest Firefighter Foreman on August 9, 1961, in the Nevada-Yuba Unit; to Fire Prevention Officer I on May 2, 1967, Butte Ranger Unit - Chico; to Fire Prevention Officer II on October 31, 1968 in the San Diego Ranger Unit; to Division Chief on August 15, 1971 at the Tehama Ecology Center - Tehama--Glenn Ranger Unit; and WHEREAS, Chief Cartwright transferred in 1975 to the Butte Ranger Unit as Division Chief later being promoted to Limited Term Unit Chief/County Fire Warden from January 31 to July 1, 1980, and WHEREAS, Chief Cartwright set a very high level of performance for himself and his subordinates in a very professional and caring way always considering their personal needs; and WHEREAS, Chief Cartwright was an outstanding fire officer on numerous structural, wildland, and hazardous materials incidents, including the 1989 Canal Drive fire in the Oroville area; and THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte commend Division Chief Arlen B. Cartwright for his outstanding service to the County during two tours of duty -2- totalling over 16 years, and PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 27th day of March, 1990 by the following vote: AXES: Supervisors McInturf, Dolan, Fulton and Chairman McLaughlin NOES: Bone ABSENT: Supervisor Vercruse NOT VOTING: Mane ~n C ~ '" ` iv.
