HomeMy WebLinkAbout90-173Resolufion RESOLUTION IN APPRECIATION OF SHERIFF LEROY WOOD WHEREAS, this Board expresses its appreciation to SHERIFF LEROY WOOD for the years he has been Sheriff_Coroner of the County of Butte and for his 32 years as a law enforcement officer with the Butte County Sheriff's Department. WHEREAS, LEROY WOOD began his law enforcement career in the Army where he served as a military police officer. In 1959, he joined the Butte County Sheriff's Department as a deputy. He progressed through the ranks serving as an Investigator, Chief Investigator and Captain. One of his mast memorable cases is when he apprehended and arrested one of the first airline hijackers in the United States. In 1986, he sought the office of Sheriff and was elected. WHEREAS, after serving the citizens of Butte County for 32 years, SHERIFF WOOD will be retiring December 28, 1990. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, on its own behalf, and on behalf of the residents of the County of Butte: 1. That said Board expresses its appreciation to SHERIFF LEROY WOOD for implementing innovative ideas and new programs to provide the citizens of Butte County with essential law enforcement services during these years of budget crisis. 2. That said Board expresses its appreciation for the unselfish dedication and devotion given by SHERIFF WOOD during his career with the Butte County Sheriff's Department. 3. The Board also recognizes the numerous hours of voluntary services given unselfishly by SHERIFF WOOD for the past 32 years to non-profit organizations to benefit the citizens of the County of Butte. -2- PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 18th day of December, 1990 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors McInturf, Vercruse, Fulton and Chairman McLaughlin NOES: None ABSENT: Supervisor Dolan NOT VOTING: None C ED MCLAUGHLIN, airman, Butte County Board of Supervisors ATTEST: WTLLIATiM H.
