RESOLDTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF THE COIINTY OF BUTTS APPROVING THAT CERTAIN AGREEMENT
BETWEEN AND AMONG THE COUNTY OF BUTTE AND EACH INCORPORATED
CITY WITHIN THE COIINTY OF BUTTE DATED December 18, 1990
AND ENTITLED "HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TEAM SPSCTAL
MIITIIAL AID JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT"
WHEREAS, the Butte County Fire Department and the fire
departments of each incorporated city within the County of Butte
are occasionally called upon to respond to emergency incidents
arising out of the accidental spill or unlawful disposal of
hazardous materials; and
WHEREAS, the proper management and control of such incidents
usually requires highly specialized training, equipment,
supplies, communications and other resources in order to provide
adequate protection for the health and safety of the public and
emergency response personnel; and
WHEREAS, establishing and maintaining such hazardous
materials response capability is so expensive and the occurrence
of such incidents so infrequent that the County of Butte and each
incorporated city within the County of Butte have determined that
it would be more economical, feasible and appropriate to utilize
the services of a county-wide hazardous materials team to respond
to such incidents rather than to develop and maintain duplicate
response teams at various- locations within the County of Butte
and its incorporated cities; and
WHEREAS, by reason of the foregoing, this Board now desires
to approve that certain agreement between the County of Butte and
each of the incorporated cities within the County of Butte dated
December 18, 1990, and entitled, "Hazardous Materials Team Special
