HomeMy WebLinkAbout90-176`~~s~ S U ~ p~~.....1'?~'.~ :~a. ~ :'~: B4ARD OF SUPERVISORS ~* ' ~ ~ 'rte COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA ~' .~~ G~ ~' •• ~• ~+,;~!~QU~~ Resolution ~]0. 90- i76 RESOLDTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COIINTY OF BUTTS APPROVING THAT CERTAIN AGREEMENT BETWEEN AND AMONG THE COUNTY OF BUTTE AND EACH INCORPORATED CITY WITHIN THE COIINTY OF BUTTE DATED December 18, 1990 AND ENTITLED "HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TEAM SPSCTAL MIITIIAL AID JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT" WHEREAS, the Butte County Fire Department and the fire departments of each incorporated city within the County of Butte are occasionally called upon to respond to emergency incidents arising out of the accidental spill or unlawful disposal of hazardous materials; and WHEREAS, the proper management and control of such incidents usually requires highly specialized training, equipment, supplies, communications and other resources in order to provide adequate protection for the health and safety of the public and emergency response personnel; and WHEREAS, establishing and maintaining such hazardous materials response capability is so expensive and the occurrence of such incidents so infrequent that the County of Butte and each incorporated city within the County of Butte have determined that it would be more economical, feasible and appropriate to utilize the services of a county-wide hazardous materials team to respond to such incidents rather than to develop and maintain duplicate response teams at various- locations within the County of Butte and its incorporated cities; and WHEREAS, by reason of the foregoing, this Board now desires to approve that certain agreement between the County of Butte and each of the incorporated cities within the County of Butte dated December 18, 1990, and entitled, "Hazardous Materials Team Special Mutual Aid Joint Powers Agreement," which provides for the establishment and operation of a county-wide hazardous materials team; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE50LVED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte as follows: -1- 1. That that certain agreement between the County of Butte and each of the incorporated cities within the County of Butte dated December 1~ 1990, and entitled "Hazardous Materials Team Special Mutual Aid Joint Powers Agreement" be and is hereby approved; and 2. That the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to execute such an agreement on behalf of the County of Butte.
