TO CERTIFY THE APPOINTMENT AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE
COUNTY VETERAN SERVICE OFFICER AND
TO ACCEPT ALLOCATIONS AND RELATED TERMS AND CONDITIONS
WHEREAS, the California Department of Veterans Affairs
(CDVA) provides allocations to counties pursuant to Military &
Veterans Code Section 972 and 972.1; and
WHEREAS, Military & Veterans Code Section 972 sets forth
terms and conditions upon counties when accepting allocations of
State monies, to wit:
The county shall appoint, prescribe the qualifications,
and fix the compensation of an officer to be termed
"County Veteran Service Officer," and provide said
officer with such assistance and facilities as are
necessary to carry out these terms and conditions. Such
officer shall be a veteran.
The County Veteran Service Officer shall administer the
aid provided for in Chapter 5 of Article 4 of the
Military and Veterans Code, shall investigate all claims,
applications, or requests for aid made pursuant to the
provisions of said Chapter, and shall perform any other
veteran services as may be detailed for performance by
the Board of Supervisors.
The County Veteran Service Officer shall assist every
veteran of any war of the United States and the
dependents of every such deceased veteran in presenting
and pursuing such claim as the veteran may have against
the United States, arising out of war service, and in
establishing the veteran's right to any privilege,
preference, care, or compensation provided for by the
laws of the United States or of this state.
The County Veteran Service Officer shall maintain annual
records for audit, and shall submit reports in accordance
with procedures established by the CDVA, and shall permit
the CDVA representatives to inspect all facilities and
records and to examine the performance of services
rendered by the County Veteran Service Officer as
required hereunder.
Reimbursement under the allocation shall not include a
sum in excess of $75 per month toward the payment of the
salary for any County Veteran Service Officer who is not
employed in such capacity on a full time basis, nor shall
it include any sum for compensation, salaries, employee
benefits, or expenses for any assistants or employees of
the County Veteran Service Officer except for duties
restricted to County Veteran Service office activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Butte County Board
of Supervisors as follows:
The Chief Administrative Officer or his deputies are
hereby authorized to give certification to the above
conditions listed as 1 through 5 under the allocation of
State monies pursuant to Sections 972 and 972.1 of the

Military & Veterans Code, and as may be subsequently
amended from time to time.
2. The Chief Administrative Officer or his deputies are
hereby authorized to insure that the conditions are
complied with.
3. The Chief Administrative Officer or his deputies are
hereby authorized to accept allocations of funds pursuant
to Sections 972 and 972.1 of the Military & Veterans Code
on behalf of the County of Butte.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVER that this Resolution shall remain
in full force and effect until such time as it is further amended
or rescinded.
