Resolu{ion No. 91-42
WHEREAS, the Library of Congress has designated 1991
"Year of the Lifetime Reader"; and
WHEREAS, reading has been an integral part of our
national experience; and
WHEREAS, America's libraries have nurtured this Nation
of Readers with vast resources of knowledge and information; and
WHEREAS, libraries have remained free and accessible to
all Americans; and
WHEREAS, the quality and quantity of information and
services provided by libraries is dependent upon community support;
and
WHEREAS, our Butte County libraries are celebrating
National Library Week with the theme "Year of the Lifetime Reader";
and
WHEREAS; that theme encourages us to learn more, grow
more, enjoy more through the power and pleasure of reading and
expand our horizons by using the wide variety of written materials
our libraries offer.
NOW, THEREFORE, B& IT RESOLVED that the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Butte proclaim April 14-20, 1991,
NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEYC in Butte County and urge all citizens to
become Lifetime Readers by using their library this week and
throughout the year.
