RESOLIITION HONORING BEA AND JOHN GORMAN
AND THE ALZHEIMER~S SOCIETY
FOR A 'DECADE OF CARING AND SHARING"
WHEREAS, Bea Gorman founded the ALZHEIMER'S AID SOCIETY
OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA in 1981 and together with her husband, John,
has served family and professional caregivers and contributed to
research far 10 years, and
WHEREAS, the Gormans have travelled throughout the United
States and particularly 13 northern California counties, providing
educational seminars and workshops, organizing and facilitating
several dozen local support groups, making hundreds of home visits
and appearing on many radio and television programs, and
WHEREAS, the Society's volunteers maintain a daily
telephone network, mail bi-monthly newsletter and information
packets to over 5,000 addressees and provide a comprehensive
6-county directory, and
WHEREAS, the Society participates in fund-raising
projects, advocates for legislation, serves as member(s) of related
organizations/commissions as well as occupies Berard Member status
in inter-related fields,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County
Board of Supervisors hereby express their sincere appreciation to
Bea and John Gorman for a decade of caring and sharing and commends
their founding the ALZHEIMER'S AID SOCIETY OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA.
BE IF FIIRTHER RESOLVED, that their volunteer efforts
have contributed to a better way of life for those less fortunate
citizens of the community and the appreciation is expressed through
this official recognition.

the Butte County Board of Supervisors by the following vote:
