F'' RESOLUTION ON CLOSURE OF THE BUTTE COUNTY FIRE CENTER WHEREAS, five years of drought have caused a high and continuing danger of wildland fire in Butte County, and; WHEREAS, a large proportion of Butte County residents live within and adjacent to heavily forested and grass-covered wildlands, and; WHEREAS, recent experience within the State has emphasized the critical importance of fire crew initial response attack of wildland fires to protect lives and property, and; WHEREAS, the Butte County Fire Center provides the only initial attack fire crews within several hours' travel of Butte County wildlands, and; WHEREAS, the Governor has publicly assured the people of California that budget cuts would have no significant impact on the State's wildland firefighting capability, and; WHEREAS, the Butte County Board of Supervisors is extremely concerned for the safety of lives and property in and adjacent to heavily forested and grass-covered wildlands within Butte County; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors strongly opposes closure of the Butte County Fire Center as an action that would significantly increase fire danger to lives and property in Butte County. -2- PASSED AND ADOPTER by the Butte County Board of Supervisors on the 5th day of November, 1991 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Houx, McLaughlin, Fulton and Chair Dolan NOES: None ABSENT: Supervisor Mclnturf 11 NOT VOTING: None (~~I 7.AN,~hair, Butte County f Sut~ervisors ATTEST: WILLIAM H.
