HomeMy WebLinkAbout91-149~ ~esoluf~on RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION AND APPRECIATION BUTTE COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT No. ~ 1-149 WHEREAS, November 10, 1991, marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Butte County Fire Department; and WHEREAS, November 10, 1991, also marks the 50th anniversary of the Cooperative Fire Protection Agreement wherein the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has staffed and managed the Butte County Fire Department; and WHEREAS, the Butte County Fire Department has grown from a small rural organization with several personnel to the largest fire department north of Sacramento with over 700 career and volunteer firefighters; and WHEREAS, the Butte County Fire Department has improved its citizen service level to include not only firefighting but first responder emergency medical services, hazardous materials emergency response and fire prevention programs; and WHEREAS, the Butte County Fire Department and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection have been able to provide fire services at a very reasonable cost by sharing rather than duplicating personnel and equipment, and by integrating the Biggs and Gridley City Fire Departments into department operations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors does herewith express its sincere gratitude and highly commend our career and volunteer firefighters who risk their lives on a daily basis to protect lives, property, and natural resources of our citizens. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Board does formally adopt the new Butte County Fire Department shoulder patch as recognition of this 60th anniversary. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Board encourages all members of the community to convey, by whatever means appropriate, their personal appreciation to our firefighters for the job they do.
