BUTTE OOUNTY ORDINANCE N0. 919
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEID LTMTT ON CERTAIN ROADS
WITHIN THE COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF
CALIFORNIA
(Vehicle Code Section 22358)

`3 The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California
4 do ordain as follows:
~ Section l: Said Board finds and determines that upon the basis of an
6 engineering and traffic survey, the Butte County highways hereinafter described
7 come within the provisions of Section 2235$ of the Vehicle Code of the State of
8 alifornia, in that a prima facie speed limit of sixty-five (65) miles per
9 our is more than is reasonable and safe on said highways and determines and
10 eclares a prima facie speed limit on such Butte County highways as follows:
11 A. That a prima facie speed limit of twenty-five {25} miles per hour
12 's hereby determined, declared and established and that SPEED LIMIT 25 MILES
13 signs be placed at appropriate lo~.tions on the hereinafter-described County
14 ighway, to wit;
15 On Oroville--Quincy Highway fx'om the city limits of Oroville to Arbol
X6 venue.
~'~ B. That a prima facie speed limit of thirty-five (35) miles per hour
18 's hereby determined, declared and established and that SPEID LIMIT 35 MILES
19 signs be placed at appropriate locations on the hereinafter-described County
20 ighways, to wit:
21 (1) On Oroville-Quincy Highway from Arbol Avenue to Olive Highway.
22 (2) On Sacramento Avenue from State Highway 32 to Glenwood Avenue.

(3) Dayton-Durham Highway from Midway to McAnarlin Avenue,

{!~) Gilstrap Avenue from Oroville-Gridley Highway to Evans-Reimer Road.
28 C. That a prima facie speed limit of forty-fivve (4.5) miles per hour
26 's hereby determined, declared and established and that SPEID LIMIT ~.5 MILES
27 igns be placed at appropriate locations on the hereinafter-described County
28 ighway, to wit:
29 Olive Highway from Foothill Boulevard to Hillcrest Avenue.
$0 D. That a prima facie speed limit of fifty (50) miles per hour is
31 ereby determined, dec~.red and established and that SPEID LIMIT 50 MILES
32 igns be placed at appropriate locations on the hereinafter-described County
ighway, to wit;
Gridley-Colusa Highway from Randolph Road to Block Road.
~ Section 2; Said Board finds and determines that upon the basis of an
2 engineering and traffic survey, the Butte County highway hereinafter described
3 comes within the provisions of Section 22357 of the Vehicle Code of the State
~ of California, in that the existing prima facie speed limit is less than is
$ most appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic on said highway
6 and determines and declared a prima facie speed limit on such County highway
7 as follows:
$ That a prima. facie speed limit of sixty-five (65) miles per hour is
9 hereby determined, declared and re-established on the hereinafter-described
10 County highway, to wit;
11 On Oroville-Gridley Highway from State Highway 70 to Kirk Road.
'~2 Section 3; All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
13 are hereby repealed.
~,4 Section 4: The several features, parts, provisions, sections and terms
15 of this ordinance are hereby declared independent and severable, and the
16 invalidity, if any, of any feature, part, provisions, section, or term thereof,
I7 shall not affect the remainder of this ordinance, nor render the same inoperative
18 or invalid.
19 Section 5: The Department of Public Works of the County of Butte is
20 hereby directed to erect appropriate signs giving notice of the prima facie
21 speed limit established herein, within thirty (30) days of the adoption hereof.
22 This o~'dinance shall take effect thirty days after its passage, and
23 before the expiration of fifteen days after its passage, it shall be published
2,4 ith the names of the members voting for and against the same, once in a 1oca1
2g newspaper published in the County of Butte, State of California.
26 PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte,
2q State of California, at the regular meeting thereof on the 14th day of
28 Februar , 19b7, by the following vote;
29 YES: Supervisors Dunaway, Maxon, McKillop, Pryde and Chairman Howsden
