COMMIINITY ACTION VOLIINTEERS IN EDIICATION (CAVE)
WHEREAS, Community Action Volunteers in Education (CAVE}
has, for the past twenty five (25) years, served the campus and
greater community with hundreds of thousands of hours of volunteer
assistance; and
WHEREAS, CAVE has done so in service to thousands of
youth, senior citizens, disabled, the institutionalized and others
in need of human caring and services; and
WHEREAS, CAVE has provided tens of thousands of CSU,
Chico students with hands-on learning experiences tied to
meaningful service to their communities; and
WHEREAS, CAVE has received numerous awards, including the
prestigious G. Theodore Mitau Award far the American Association
of state Colleges and Universities and continual recognition from
the state hospitals it serves; and
WHEREAS, CAVE has continually provided these services at
a startling low cost with a philosophy that demands volunteers at
nearly all levels of the organization and grooms a strong
dedication to service from its volunteer staff members; and
WHEREAS, CAVE has and will continue to farm a strong link
between the student and non-student communities as it promotes
interaction, caring, learning, and understanding by a commitment
to action rather than words.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County
Board of supervisors recognizes the 25th anniversary of CAVE and
its contribution to the betterment of the citizens of Butte County.
