HomeMy WebLinkAbout92-047RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING JUVENILE HALL EDUCATION, RECREATION, AND SPECIAL PROJECTS FUND WHEREAS, Penal Code Section 4025 allows far the establishment of an inmate welfare fund for adult inmates incarcerated in the Butte County Jail; and WHEREAS, there are no governing provisions of law which allow for the establishment of a similar fund for juveniles detained/committed in the Butte County Juvenile Hall; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the County of Butte to establish an education, recreation, and special projects fund far the Juvenile Hall with proceeds accruing in the fund to be utilized for the purchase of recreation and leisure time activities, as we11 as meeting special needs of juveniles which may arise Pram time to time; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Juvenile Hall management to install telephones for juveniles detained/committed to the Hall, said telephones to be operated an a collect call only basis; and WHEREAS, said telephones will be installed at no cost to the taxpayers of the County and the revenue accruing to the County derived from the use of the telephones will be placed in the Recreation, Education, and Special Projects Fund to be established. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Butte County Board of Supervisors that there is hereby established a Recreation, Education, and Special Projects Fund for the Butte County Juvenile Hall. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Auditor_Controller, Administrative Office, and Chief Probation Officer are hereby directed to develop a mutually agreeable policy and procedure governing the monies deposited in the Fund and how they will be utilized. -2- PASSED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of May, 1992, by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors ~icInturf, kioux, McLaughlin, Fulton and Chair Dolan NOES : None ABSENT: None NOT VOTING: done OLAN; Chair, Butte County of Supervisors ATTEST: STARLYN BROAN, cting Chief Administrative Officer and Clergy of the B~rd of Supervisors BY-~A 3 fi ` 7 ~ c~..t
