HomeMy WebLinkAbout92-089~esa~ufion No. RESOLUTION OF THE BUTTE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MAKING APPLICATION FOR REVERTED JAIL BOND ACT FUNDS FROM PROPOSITIONS 2, 15, AND 52 WHEREAS, the California Board of Corrections has given notification of the availability of reverted jail bond funds pursuant to Senate Bill 236 (Chapter 1327, Statutes of 1989); and WHEREAS, these are funds which have reverted from the 1981, 1984, and 1986 band acts as a result of unclaimed and unused funds and interest earnings on accounts that were not impacted by federal tax reform in 1986; and WHEREAS, the funds available for reversion to eligible counties are $16,937,519; and WHEREAS, the County of Butte operates a single adult jail facility; and WHEREAS, the reallocated funds would enable Butte County to complete its jail construction needs as identified by the Board of Corrections; and WHEREAS, Butte County has an approved contract with the California Board of Corrections for jail construction, said contract is dated April 22, 1992; and WHEREAS, if approved, Butte County would be required to have the 25o match applicable to any reallocated funds. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors, County of Butte, State of California as follows: 1. Application for reverted funds from Propositions 2, 16, and 52 is hereby being made. 2. The Chair of the Board of Supervisors is authorized to apply for funds specified in the application from the County Correctional Facility Capital Expenditure funds. 3. The Board of Supervisors hereby certifies that it has reviewed a need for additional staff and the increased operating costs which will result from the projects far which supplemental funds are being requested.
