HomeMy WebLinkAbout92-091RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING RESPONSIBILITIES FOR SMPLEMENTATION OF AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (A.D.A.) WHEREAS, the Americans with Disabilities Act becomes effective on July 26, 1992. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California as follows: 1. The Board of Supervisors fully supports efforts to end discrimination in employment, services, and programs against qualified disabled individuals. 2. The Director-Personnel is hereby designated as the County's A.D.A. Compliance Officer. 3. The duties of the Compliance Officer shall include: a) Assuring County compliance with the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act with regard to County employment, services, and programs. b) Review and recommend amendments to the Board of Supervisors of the County's Merit System and Personnel Rules to assure compliance with the A,D.A. c) Prepare an annual report to the Board of Supervisors of efforts to comply with A.D.A. 4. There shall be an A.D.A. Advisory Committee. The committee shall be comprised of the following persons: a) Chief Administrative Officer, or his/her designee; b) Director-Personnel, or his/her designee; c} General Services Director, or his/her designee; d) Risk Manager; e} Safety Officer. 5. The duties of the Advisory Committee shall include, but not be limited to: a) Providing technical guidance to the A.D.A. Compliance officer; b) Directing periodic reviews of the County's buildings and structures for A.D.A. compliance; c) Making recommendations for physical alterations of the workplace for disabled employees; d) Other advisory functions as it deems necessary to assure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
