HomeMy WebLinkAbout92-101WHEREAS, Peq Taylor moved to Butte County in 1969 and Butte County has benefitted for 23 years from her outstanding contributions of time and talent to the citizens of Butte County. WHEREAS, Peq Taylor in 1970, helped to initiate and administer free blood pressure testing, and later, annual health screening through the Chico Area Recreation and Park District and enlisted volunteers to man the programs. By 1973, she was volunteering her time at Chico Community Hospital working with the auxiliary, hospice and legislation. WHEREAS, Peq Taylor, in 1980, took on the tasks of ombudsman on behalf of those in skilled nursing and residential care facilities of Butte County. Later, she trained ombudsmen in all of northeastern California. In honor of her many contributions, during that same year, Peg Taylor was voted Chico's Senior Woman of the Year. WHEREAS, in 1981, Peq Taylor participated in the development of the Butte County Long Term Care Council and became its first chairperson. WHEREAS, in 1984, Peg Taylor began serving on the Advisory Council of the Area Agency on Aging. After filling many positions, she currently is the Council's representative to the Triple A Council of California (TALC), the statewide organization of Area Agency Advisory Councils. WHEREAS, Peg Taylor through the years has worked tirelessly to establish an adult day health care program. in tribute to her efforts, the dream became a reality and the directors voted to name the center in her honor, "Peg Taylor Center Adult Day Health Care". the Year. WHEREAS, in 1986, Peq Taylor was nominated Advocate of WHEREAS, Peq Taylor has donated her volunteer efforts to endless organizations: First Christian Church, Church's Free Dinner Program, and Religious Community for Peace. She has been Legislative Chairperson for the local chapter of American Association for Retired Persons (AARP), Chairperson of the California State Legislative Committee, California representative on long-term care - national level and started a peer counseling service among seniors through AARP. RESOLIITION IN APPRECIATION OF PEG TAYLOR -2- WHEREAS, Peq Taylor is Chairperson of the Commission on Aging; volunteers at the library, the Friends of the Library and has contributed financial backing to keep the libraries open. She is a member of the Arroyo Federated Women's Club, the founder of the Friends of Mental Health; worked with the County's Runaway Youth Program, worked with women alcoholics, and has been a volunteer for the Association for Retarded Citizens. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board, on its behalf and on behalf of the residents of the County of Butte, express sincere appreciation to Peq Taylor for her unselfish dedication and devotion to the betterment of Butte County.
