HomeMy WebLinkAbout92-121WHEREAS, the citizens of Butte County, animal welfare organizations, and the Butte County Board of Supervisors are aware of a lack of animal control services in the unincorporated area of Butte County; and WHEREAS, there is limited discretionary money available to adequately address local government services; and WHEREAS, it is desirable to provide animal control services using funds that are dedicated solely to animal control and cannot be diverted to other local, state, or federal government programs; and WHEREAS, establishment of County Service Area 140 will provide such a source of funds; and WHEREAS, County Service Area 140 will be established if approved by a majority of voters casting ballots in the unincorporated area at the election to be held November 3, 1992; and WHEREAS, the establishment of an Advisory Committee on Animal Control Services is desirable, NDW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, the Advisory Committee on Animal Control Services be established; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Advisory Committee an Animal Control Services shall consist of not more than ten voting members, to include at least one representative from Butte Humane Society, Northwest Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, North Valley Veterinary Medical Association, PAWS Tnc., Butte County Cattlemen's Association, and the Butte County Board of. Supervisors; BE TT FURTHER RESOLVED that appointments to the Advisory Committee on Animal Control Services from the aforementioned groups shall be made by the Board of Supervisors based on nominations from the governing Boards of Directors of the respective organization; RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH ANIMAL CONTROL ADVISORY COMMITTEE _~_ BE IT FIIRTHER RESOLVED that the Advisory Committee on Animal ;Control Services shall have input on matters of operations, budget," expenditures, pe`~sonnel, and review of public grievances relati~it~ to Animal Contro~`Services, and as restricted by federal, state, and local law, County personnel rules, and County collective bargaining agreements., BE IT FIIRTHER RESOLVED that Animal Control Services as provided for under County Service Area 140 will be under the direction of the Butte County Agricultural Commissioner, and separate from Butte County Rabies Prevention; BS IT FIIRTHER RESOLVED that revenues derived from assessments of County Service Area 140 will be used solely and exclusively for Animal Control Services.
