HomeMy WebLinkAbout93-002WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors, on October 6, 1992,
adopted a standard of aid for General Assistance pursuant to
Welfare and Institutions Code Section 17000.5 pursuant to its
Resolution No. 92--133; and
WHEREAS, that resolution authorizes the Butte County
Welfare Department to adjust the rates paid to General Assistance
recipients in accordance with that resolution without further
action; and
WHEREAS, a potential dispute has arisen as to actions
taken by the Butte County Welfare Department subsequent to the
passage of Resolution No. 92-133; and, further,
WHEREAS, a further adjustment to the standard of aid is
now authorized by Senate sill 485 as that Senate Bill amends
Welfare and Institutions Code Section 17000.5 and that the
adjustments referred to in that section to Section 11450.02 of the
Welfare and Institutions Code have not been made and will not be
made pursuant to information received by the Butte County Welfare
Department on or about November 20, 1992;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
1. The Board of Supervisors adopts and ratifies a reduction
in the standard of aid and care to General Assistance recipients
and a reduction of 1.3 percent effective on December ~., 1992, The
Board of Supervisors was made aware of this General Assistance
grant adjustment on or about December 10, 1992 by an
interdepartmental memorandum to the Board from the Butte County
Welfare Director.
2. That effective February 1, 1993, there shall be an
additional adjustment to the General Assistance grant level by a
reduction in grant level rates in the amount of 4.5 percent as
authorized by Welfare and Institutions Code Section 17000.5 and by
the failure of the federal government to grant a waiver to the
State of California to regionalize rates far the Aid to Families
for Dependent Children program pursuant to Welfare and Institutions
Code Section 11450.02.

3. This resolution shall be effective immediately and the
General Assistance maximum aid level shall be adjusted as set Earth
hereinabove.
4. That effective immediately, General Assistance rates of
the County of Butte shall be as set forth on Exhibit 1 to this
resolution as of the dates specified therein.
5. Nothing contained in this resolution is intended to
affect the right of the County of Butte to implement in any manner
permissible by law or subject to the discretion of the Board of
Supervisors any change in law effective after the date of this
resolution which permits counties to further adjust or eliminate
General Assistance aid levels.
