HomeMy WebLinkAbout93-032RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AGRICIILTURAL COMMISSIONERS AND SEALERS DIRECTORS OF WEIGHTS AND MEASURES WHEREAS, the California Agricultural Commissioner and Sealers Association membership is comprised of County Agricultural Commissioners and Sealers/Directors of Weights and Measures dedicated to providing valuable and effective services to the public and industry; and WHEREAS, its members are responsible for promoting and protecting agriculture, providing for equity in the market place, protecting the consumer and the environment; and WHEREAS, its members provide local control over areas of great concern to the citizens of this state; and WHEREAS, its members offices provide many special services that are responsive to the needs of the local community; and WHEREAS, its members have maintained a program to insure that pesticides are used in a safe manner thereby protecting agricultural workers, the environment, and providing consumers with good that is both safe and wholesome; and WHEREAS, its members have served to prevent the introduction of pests into California that would be detrimental to agriculture and the environment, and to further carry out a comprehensive program to detect and eradicate those detrimental pests that are introduced into the state; and WHEREAS, its members have contributed to stable markets and consumer confidence in fruits, vegetables, eggs, nuts and honey through a program of quality control inspections; and WHEREAS, its members provide for equitable business transactions by checking the accuracy of devices and quantity of commodities offered in the market place to the consumer; and WHEREAS, the California Agricultural Commissioner and Sealers Association has provided leadership, research and field activities for the control of depredating vertebrate pests and noxious weed, especially in promoting integrated pest management alternatives such as biological control; and -2- WHEREAS, the California Agricultural Commissioners and Sealers Association will hold its annual conference in Butte County for the first time on April 26-30, 1993. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board of Supervisors of Butte County, on behalf of its citizens, does hereby recognize the dedicated service of each Agricultural Commissioner and Sealer/Director of Weights and Measures and staff member and further extends a hearty welcome to Butte County and best wishes far a successful conference.
