SURCHARGE PURSUANT TO VEHICLE CODE SECTION 9250.14(c)
(SB 2014 LESLIE)
WHEREAS, the problem of the drinking driver is a major
contributor to the fatal and near fatal traffic collisions in
Butte County; and
WHEREAS, the prosecution of driving under the influence
and manslaughter cases is threatened by the budgetary cutbacks;
and
WHEREA5, Section 9250.14(c), added to the Vehicle bode
by the action of the California Legislature on January 1, 1993,
authorizes Butte County to impose a surcharge of $1.00 upon
certain registered motor vehicles within the county for the
prosecution of driving under the influencelmanslaughter cases.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED as follows:
That the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby
request a surcharge of $1.00 be levied on all fee paying
registered motor vehicles in Butte County commencing July 1,
1993, and request the California Department of Motor Vehicles to
collect and distribute said fees pursuant to Section 920.14 of
the California Vehicle Cade.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of
Supervisors intend to use the above surcharge to supplement the
Butte County District Attorney's efforts in the prosecution of
cases involving driving under the influence.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of
Supervisors on this 27th day of April, J.993 by the
followring vote
