PAROLE, AND CORRECTIONAL ASSOCIATION DAY
WHEREAS, the California Probation, Parole, and
Correctional Association, founded in 2927, is the oldest and one of
the largest state professional associations for corrections in the
nation; and
WHEREAS, the California Probation, Parole, and
Correctional Association serves to enhance correctional practices
and to advocate for the highest standards of excellence for
correctional practitioners; and
WHEREAS, the California Probation, Parole, and
Correctional Association provides technical assistance to boards of
supervisors, county executives, researchers, community-based
organizations, other professional associations, the media and
others on corrections issues; and
WHEREAS, the California Probation, Parole, and
Correctional Association supports a variety of organizations and
charities through fund raising activities and social events; and
WHEREAS, the California Probation, Parole, and
Correctional Association provides ongoing support for
professionalism in corrections and for adequate and stable funding
for the field; and
WHEREAS, the California Probation, Parole, and
Correctional Association provides a statewide and one or more
regional conferences each year which provide, in addition to high
quality training, opportunities for exchanges of information and
networking among practitioners from all areas of the state; and
WHEREAS, the California Probation, Parole, and
Correctional Association has more than 2,700 members statewide,
many of wham serve in our county, providing field and in-custody
supervision of adult and juvenile offenders, investigations and
reports to the court, crime and delinquency prevention, drug and
mental health diversion and victim's assistance programs.

NOA, THEREFDRE, BE IT RESOLVED, in recognition of the
dedicated service of correctional professionals, we hereby declare
the 12th day of May, 1993 as California Probation, Parole, and
Correctional Association (CPPCA~ day in Butte County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 11th day of May, 1993 by the
following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Meurer, Dolan, McLaughlin, Thomas and Chair Houx
