WICK, a graduate of Oklahoma State University worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and continued his education for a Master of Science degree. WHEREAS, CARL WICR, was one of the first farm advisors in Butte County to organize and successfully conduct on-farm rice variety experiments for the benefit of the Rice Experiment Station, University of California, USDA rice breeding program and rice growers. WHEREAS, CARL WICK, and his colleagues were instrumental in the development of the management methods used for statewide rice variety testing today. WHEREAS, CARL WICK, in his research and educational program has contributed to current knowledge of rice diseases and the economical impact on rice productivity in California. WHEREAS, CARL WICR has been dedicated to assisting Butte County rice growers in solving their agricultural problems. Under his leadership, Rice Production Cost Studies and other economic information have been developed and are used widely as a basic rice reference. WHEREAS, CARL WICK, in 1984, for his many contributions in research and education, was recognized with the presentation of the Research and Education Award of the Rice Technical Working Group. WHEREAS, CARL WICR has assisted annually in the regional variety performance tests for wheat, barley and oats. WHEREAS, CARL WICK has made a significant contribution of time, effort and monetary participation in community functions throughout Butte County. NOW, THEREFORE, BS IT RESOLVED that this Board, on its awn behalf, and on behalf of the residents of the County of Butte would like to express their deep appreciation for the unselfish dedication given by CARL M.
