LAURENCE H. MILES
WHEREAS, LAURENCE MILES, from 1968 to 1971, served in the
Mariposa area, where he served as the Vehicle Theft Officer.
WHEREAS, LAURENCE MILES, served in the Hayward area from
1971 until his return to the San Jose area in 1973. While in San
Jose, he was assigned as a motorcycle officer and was involved in
the testing of radio communications equipment installed in the
motorcycle helmet. He was assigned to provide escort for
dignitaries visiting in the San Jose area, In 1976, Officer Miles
was seriously injured while in pursuit of two racing vehicles.
WHEREAS, LAIIRENCE MILES, from 1986 to 1987, served in the
Red Bluff area followed by his assignment to the Chico area. He
was recognized by the Chico Police Department for his efforts
during the riot and civil disturbances in 1990.
WHEREAS, LAURENCE MILES, upon his retirement on July 3,
1993 served more than 27 years with the State of California.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board, on its
own behalf, and on behalf of the residents of the County of Butte
would like to express their deep appreciation for the unselfish
dedication and devotion given by LAURENCE MILES during his career
with the California Highway Patrol.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of
Supervisors on this 12th day of October, 1993 by the following
vote:
AYES: Supervisors Meyer, Dolan, McLaughlin, Thomas and Chair Houx

WHEREAS, LAIIRENcE MILES joined the California ~Iighway
Patrol on March 28, 1966. Upon completion of the Academy, he was
assigned to the San Jose area where he served until 1968.
