HomeMy WebLinkAbout93-161WHEREAS, the fiscal year 1993-94 state budget shifted $2.6 billion in local property taxes away from local governments; and WHEREAS, the state budget shifted $9.1 million in local property tax away from Butte County, and WHEREAS, Butte County considers public safety spending a top priority for local government; and WHEREAS, allowing 1/2 cent of existing sales tax to continue, through the passage of Proposition 172, would provide approximately $7.4 million per year in Butte County for local public safety activities including sheriff, fire protection, district attorney, and jail operations, and WHEREAS, the County of Butte is dedicated to the safety of its citizens and w~.ll continue to set priorities which provide for those basic needs. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the County of Butte supports the passage of Proposition 172 on the November 1992 state ballot.
