BUTTE COUNTY ORDINANCE NO.~ 8
AN ORDINANCE REGUT~ATING COMPENSATION OF
NURSES AND LICENSED VOCATIONAD NURSES
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, do ordain as follows:
to That the compensation of nurses and licensed vocational
nurses employed by Butte County, shall be regulated and establish
ed as set forth on Schedule "1", attached hereto and made a part
hereof.
20 That this ordinance shall prevail in controlling
the compensation of nurses and licensed vocational nurses, not-
withstanding any ordinance to the contrary, which has been enacted
prior to this dated
It is further ordained by the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte, State of 'California, that this ordinance shall be,
and it is hereby declared to be, in full force and effect from and
after this date of its passage, pursuant to the urgency herein
after faund and declared, That this ordinance is for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health, and safety of the
residents and inhabitants of Butte Countyo That the facts cones
stituting the urgency are as follows:
1, That the nurses and licensed vocational nurses are
necessary for the operation and maintenance of the Hospital,
Public Health, Mental Health and Home Nursing Agency,
2, The hospital and other facilities serve the general
public of the County of Butte, and are necessary to the public
health and welfare that the public hospital and other services be
kept at a full operating standard,
3, That compensation in the area of proprietary hospitals
and other services for nurses and licensed vocational nurses is
such that the county is na t able to retain and/or secure sufficient
staff to properly operate and maintain said facilities, That it
is necessary that this standard of compensation be met to insure
the operation of said hospital.
The Clerk of the Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized

and directed to cause this ordinance to be published with the
names of the members voting for and against the same, at least
once in the oroville Mercury , a newspaper
published in the County of Butte, prior to fifteen (15) days
after its passages
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the BOARD OF SUPERVISORS of the
County of Butte, State of California, on this 30th day of ~ ~ ~,

4 of Butte, are fixed and determined as hereinafter set forth; and
5 the ordinance sha11 be known as "An Ordinance Regulating Compen-
6 sation of Nurses and Licensed Vocational Nurses".

Beginning July 1, 1967, the classific ation, number and
salary range of nurses and licensed vocational nurses authorized
for the Health Department, the Home Nursing Department, the
Hospital and the Mental Health Department are set forth in the
following sections. No department head shall appoint more employee
to a class of position than is provided for, except that a new
employee may be appointed to a position not more than ten (10)
working days before the employee he is replacing is separated.
