HomeMy WebLinkAbout94-008WHEREAS, in 1985, due to difficulties in financing the
Biggs Library, the County library staff, Biggs Women's Club and
the City of Biggs, approved a letter of understanding to keep the
Biggs Library open with volunteer help.
WHEREAS, the letter of understanding indicated there
would be no contributions of any sort from the County Library
System and the "volunteer" library could expect only older and
occasional books, surplus to the regular operations and would have
to be run by the "volunteer branch" according to policies and
procedures of the County Library. Monthly reports and bi-weekly
"volunteer" time cards would have to be sent to the Library
Headquarters; with the Biggs Women's Club assuming all operations.
The library would not receive telephone service, janitor service,
delivery service of current books; nor reference and request
service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board, on its
own behalf, and on behalf of the residents of the County of Butte
would like to express their deep appreciation for the unselfish
dedication and devotion given by the Biggs Library "volunteer
branch" and to acknowledge the library's continuing operation
without compensation. The importance of a local library and its
necessity continues to be a major community commitment from the
citizens of Biggs.
