BUTTE COUNTY WELFARE DEPARTMENT
GENERAL ASSISTANCE MANUAL
WHEREAS, the Butte County General Assistance Regulations include requirements that employable applicants or
recipients of General Assistance over the age of 18, including employable parents and legally emancipated minors are required
to provide verification that they have registered for work with the Employment Development Department and provide
verification of a minimum of one employer contact in each working day in the month to be eligible for General Assistance;
and
WHEREAS, an issue has arisen whereby the proper method of verification has come into question; and
WHEREAS, the County of Butte is desirous of assuring uniformity in the application of General Assistance
Regulations and, in addition, obtaining actual verification of registration for work with the Employment Development
Department and actual verification of contact with employers,
NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved as follows:
1. 'T'hat Article 6, Employable Persons, Section C-1 and 2, paragraph C-3 be added to the General Assistance
Regulations to read as follows:
C-3. Verification far registration for work with the Employment Development Department and verification of
contacts with employers as set forth in C-1 and 2 above, and as to any other issue or requirement imposed by these regulations
shall consist of the following:
a. As to verification of registration with the Employment Development Department, a signed or initialed
document from the Employment Development Department indicating such application; and
b. As to verification of contacts with employers, verification shall consist of written documentation including the
name of the business contacted, the original signature of the owner/operator, or person authorized on their
behalf to accept applications or respond to applications for employment, and the date that contact was made.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on this 8th day of February, 1994 by the Butte County Board of Supervisors by the
following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Meyer, Dolan, Houx, Thomas and Chair McLaughlin
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
