RIX WHEREAS, JUDGE RIX graduated from Paradise high School in 1962 and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1966 from California State University at Sacramento. WHEREAS, JUDGE RIX received his legal education from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate in 1973. WHEREAS, JUDGE RIX previously served in the United States Navy, and later employed as Director of Planning and Research for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company and Deputy County Counsel for Butte County. WIIF,REAS, JUDGE RIX is a graduate of the 1977 California Center for Judicial Education and Research (C.JER), Judicial College and is a graduate of the Continuing Judicial Studies Programs in Advanced Criminal Law and Prceedure. He was a faculty lecturer at the 1981 Judicial College and is a contributor to the California Judges Benchbook: Civil Trials, published by the California Center for Judicial Education and Research. WIIERF,A.S, JUDGE RIX is a farmer director of the Student Attorney Project, a federally funded program through the Butte County Superintendent of Schools to develop curriculum to teach language skills and law in the elementary and high schools of this state. WHEREAS, JUDGE RIX has taught Legal Research, Real Property Law, and Environmental I~w at Butte and Yuba Community Colleges and California State University at Chico. WHEREAS, JUDGE RIX is a member of the California Judges Association; served six years on the Board of Governors of Feather River 13aspital; is a member of the California judicial Council and member of the Advisory Committee to the California Judicial Council on Gender Bias in the Courts; is a member of the Butte College Advisory Board for the School of Court Reporting; and belongs to the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. NOW, TIIERF,FORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board, on its own behalf, and on behalf of the residents of the County of Butte would like to express their deep appreciation for the unselfish dedication given by JUDGE BRIAN RIX, having completed 17 years with the County. BLACKLOCK, Chief Administrative Officer and Glerk of the Board of Supervisors I3y ~ WHEREAS, JUDGE BRIAN L. RIX was elected to the Paradise Justice Court in November, 1976. In addition to serving as Judge of the Paradise Justice Court, he was appointed, by the Board of Supervisors in 1980, to serve as the Judge of the ©roville Justice Court. He was re-elected to the Paradise Justice Court in June of 1982. On March 16, 1987, Judge Rix became a Judge of the North Butte County Municipal Court and re-elected to that court in 1988.
