HomeMy WebLinkAbout94-021RESOLUTION INAPPRECIATION EDWIN "ED" ROACH WHEREAS, EDWIN ROACH joined the California Highway Patrol on January 3, 1967 having previously served with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department from July 14, 1961 to December 30, 1966. Prior to service in law enforcement, he served with the U.S. Navy for three years and nine manihs. WHEREAS, ED ROACH, following graduation from the Academy in April 1967, was assigned to the Newhall Office. In 1973, Officer Roach was assigned to the Marysville area and later in 1983 transferred to the Oroviile Office. WHEREAS, ED ROACH, since 1987, has been responsible for commercial mobile road enforcement and regulation of commercial vehicles in southern Butte County. He is recognized within the California Ilighway Patrol as an expert in all phases of commercial vehicle operations. WHEREAS, ED ROACH, during his career was recognized for his outstanding service by many civic groups. In 1972, he was chosen as the Newhall-Saugus Optimist Club "Officer of the Year". In January, 1976, Officer Roach received a California State Assembly Resolution for "Saving a Life" from a burning mobile home. In 1.991, he was selected as "Peace Officer of the Year" by the Butte County Exchange Club. WHEREAS, ED ROACH, to further expand his criminal justice knowledge attended and graduated from Yuba Community College in 1974 and later continued his education through courses at California State University, Chico. WHEREAS, ED ROACH, throughout his career, has actively supported local school programs by serving as an assistant track coach at Gridley Union High School from 1976 - 1993. WHEREAS, ED ROACH, upon his retirement will have served more than 2$ years with the State of California. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board, on its own behalf, and an behalf of the residents of the County of Butte would like to express their deep appreciation for the unselfish dedication and devotion given by EDWIN ROACH during his career with the California Highway Patrol.
