HomeMy WebLinkAbout94-130RESOLUTION ADOPTING REVISIONS TO THE BUTTE COUNTY GENERAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM MANUAL WHEREAS, Butte County is required to relieve and support all incompetent, poor, indigent persons and those incapacitated by age, disease or accident who are lawful residents of the County and who are not supported or relieved by their relatives or friends, by their awn means, or by State hospitals or other state and private institutions; and WHEREAS, the County of Butte has adopted a standard of aid and care for persons eligible thereto pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code Section 17000.5; and WHEREAS, at the present time the County is not paying a full cash grant to persons who cannot substantiate expenses for housing costs but, rather, pays only sa much as can be established as a housing cost up to $143.00; and WHEREAS, the Court, in the case of Bell v. Alameda County, has determined that each county must pay at least the full cash grant specified in Section 17000.5 for recipients of General Assistance as set forth in Section 17000; and WHEREAS, other changes in the manner in which General Assistance can be administered have been spelled out by the courts of the State since this matter was last reviewed by the Board of Supervisors; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the General Assistance Program Manual, as revised and attached hereto as Exhibit A, shall be adapted as the General Assistance Program Manual for the county of Butte. Be it further resolved that the County shall transfer to the Welfare Department sufficient funds from its reserve far contingencies to pay for the increased cost of General Assistance payments in an amount not less than $113,650.00 far fiscal year 1994-95.
