AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE COMPENSATION OF OFFICERS AND
EMPLOYEES OF~THE COUNTY OF BUTTE AND REPEALING ALL ORD-

THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE

Upon the recommendation of the sheriff and with the approval
of the board of supervisors, a constable who devotes a substantial
portion of his time to law enforcement work under the direction
of the sheriff may be paid compensation in addition to his salary
as constable in an amount which would correspond to the salary
he would earn as a deputy sheriff. The additional compensation
paid a constable s'ha11 be based upon merit and length of service
as set forth in sections 6.7 and 6.8 of the Personnel Rules.

SECTION N0. 5
Beginning September 19 19679 the classification9 number
and salary range of positions authorized for each department or
unit are set forth in the following sections. No department
head shall appoint more employees to a class of position than
is provided for except that (1} a new employee may be appointed
to a position not more than ten (10) working days before the
employee he is replacing is separateds and 2) that the positions
of Clerk II9 Steno Clerk TI9 and Account Clerk II9 may be filled
with the lower classifications in each serieso

SECTION No. 45
PAYMENT OF SALARIES: The salaries of the officers deputies,
clerks and employees of the several departments and institutions
of the county shall be paid semi-monthly. Extra help employed by
departments and institutions of the county shall be limited to the
budgetary provisions therefor and such extra help shall also be
paid semi-monthly in the same ma nner as the officers, deputies,
clerks and employees referred to above.
SECTION NOe 46
All other ordinances inconsistent with the provisions of this
ordinance are hereby repealed as of the effective date hereof,
provided specifically that provisions in all previous ordinances
relating to health insurance for elective and appointive officers
and anployees of the County of Butte, shall remain in full force
and effect.
SECTTON N0. 47
EFFECTIVE DATE AND PUBLICATION: This ordinance shall take
effect thirty (30) days after the date of its adoption and shall
be operative on and after September 1, 1967, and before the
expiration of fifteen (15) days after its passage shall be published
once with the names of the members voting for and against in a
newspaper published in said County of Butte.

OF BUTTE, State of California, at a regular meeting thereof9 on
the 1st day of August, 1967, by the following vote:
