AN ORDINANCc REPEALING APlD CONSOLIDATING
ORDINANCE iVOS. 017 and 693 and establishing
1 regulations for the use of land and the
construction and uses of buildings in
2 "M-1" Districts of Butte County
3 The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of Cali-
- fornia, does ordain as follows:

SECTION 1. The hereinafter described area situate in the County
S of Butte, STate of California, shall be and it is hereby zoned as
an "h~-1" (Light Industrial) District as hereinafter described and
6 subject to all of the restricted uses applicable to an "i+7-1"
District:

8 Butte County Map in the office of the
Butte County Planning Commission and in
9 the office of the Butte County Clerk
10 SECTION 2. The following regulations shall apply in an "P~~-1"
(Light Industrial) District.

2.1 Uses permitted:

a. Uses permitted in "C-1" and "C-2" Districts.
13 b. 4Jholesale and storage warehouses.
c. The assembly and storage of goods, materials, liquids
14 and equipment (except the storage of inflammable matter or ex-
plosives or materials which create dust, odors or fumes).
15 d. Feed storehouses and warehouses and fuel yards.
e. The manufacturing, processing, fabricating, assembling,
16 refining, repairing, packaging and treatment of goods, materials
and products by power (oil, gas or electric), including, by way
17 of example and illustration, but not limited to the manufactur-
ing, fabrication and assembling of bathroom shower and patio
18 partitions, enclosures and doors, windows and store fronts of
aluminum, p hastic and fiberglass, or other suitable material,
19 and the processing, finishing, polishing and anodizing of alumi-
num extrusions and castings, assaying, broom and brush manufac-
20 turfing, die casting, dog pounds, draying, freighting or trucking
yard or terminals, heavy equipment rental or sale, heating and
21 venti1ati,ng service shops, jewelry manufacturing, lamp shade
manufacturing, lumber yards, packaging plants, public utility
22 service yard, truck repairing and overhauling and welding shops.
f. Dyeing and rug cleaning plants, veterinary hospitals
23" and animal shelters and boarding kennels, cabinet and woodwork-
ing shops, construction and material yards.

2.2 Building Site Area Requirements: t~lone, except as may be
23 required fnr building and for off-street loading area and
parking space as set forth below under "Loading Area` and
26 'Parking Space'.
27 2.3 Yard Required:
a. Front Yard: None> except buildings and structures
28 shall be fifty (50) feet from the centerline of the road,'
except tivhere the road is classified as a Federal Aid Secondary
29 and then the minimum setback shall be fifty-five (55) feet from
the centerline of said road.
30 b. Side Yard: None, except where the side of a lot abuts
31 an "R" District,- in which case the side yard shall be not less
than five (5) feet.
c. Rear Yard: None, except +ahere the rear yard abuts an
32 R District, in which case the rear yard shall be not less than
five (5) feet.

2.4 Truck Loading and Unloading Space: Private off-street
loading space for the handling of all goods, materials and
equipment shall be provided. Such space shall be of suffi-
cient area and 'of such design as to permit the parking and
loading of vehicles without extending into any existing
street beyond the curb line.
2.5 Parking Space:. One parking space for each three (3} em-
ployees or one parking space for each two thousand (2,000)
square feet of gross floor space, whichever is greater.
2.6 The following uses subject to the securing of a use permit
in each case:
a. Any residential dwelling or use.
b. Storage of inflammables.
c. P~ianufacturing of acids, explosives, fertilizer, glue,
gypsum, lime, plaster of paris,. pulp and paper, beet
sugar, crushed rock, sand and gravel, cement, concrete
and/or asphalt botching plants, concrete and clay
products.
d. Industrial uses which might be objectionable by reason
of emission of noise, offensive odor, smoke, dust,
bright light, vibtation or involving the handling of
explosives or dangerous materials.
e. Junk yards and auto wrecking yards.
SECTION 3. All uses of land within the district not specifical-
ly authorized or permitted under Section 2 are prohibited.
SECTION 4. Butte County Ordinance Nos. 617 and 6~3 are hereby
repealed.
SECTION 5. In compliance with the provision~~ of said-Zoning
Enabling Ordinance the same is i~ereby amended by adding to Section
5 thereof, this Ordinance in full. ,
SECTION 5. The penalties for violation of the zoning hereby im-
posed upon said District shall be as provided in the said Zoning '
Enabling Ordinance.
SECTION 7. This Ordinance shall be and it is hereby declared to
be in full force and effect from and after thirty (3D} days after
the date of its passage, and before the. expiration of fifteen (15}
days after its passage this Ordinance shall be published once with
the names of the members of the Board voting for and against it in
the Chico-Enterprise 13ecord a newspaper published in the County
of Butte, State of California.
PASSED and ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Butte, State of California, this 15th day of August 1957
by the following vote:
