HomeMy WebLinkAbout95-027RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MARCH, 1995 AS BUTTE COUNTY GROUNDWATER AWARENESS MONTH WHEREAS, water is California's and Butte County's most precious natural resource, and; WHEREAS, the critically dry years of 1987-88 reminded communities statewide of the importance of water to California's health and economic stability, and; WHEREAS, although this winter's rains have eased drought conditions, we need to continually conserve and protect all our water resources, including groundwater, and; WHEREAS, residents, local government and water agencies must work together to ensure quality water to meet the needs of our growing community, and; WHEREAS, during the month of March Butte County joins with civic groups and the California Water Awareness Committee, composed of various urban and agricultural water communities, to work to increase understanding of water and emergency awareness of the theme "Groundwater, a key resource to protect for a prosperous future". NOW THEREFORE, the Butte County Board of Supervisors does hereby proclaim March 1995 as Butte County Groundwater Awareness Month and urges all citizens to join in supporting local water organizations and civil groups in their efforts to help Californians be water aware.
