AS "NATIONAL GUARD APPRECIATION DAY"
WHEREAS, the California National Guard and Company A of the 579th Engineers have a
long history of service to the community and to the United States of America; and
WHEREAS, the citizen soldiers of Company A of the 579th Engineers, located in Chico,
have always been available to aid the community in times of natural disasters such as fires, floods and
earthquakes; and
WHEREAS, the average citizen soldiers in the National Guard are upstanding members of
the community, often willing to place service to others ahead of their own needs, and often the needs
of their families; and
WHEREAS, the members of Company A of the 579th Engineers have participated in multiple
community action projects such as the repair of storm damaged roads at the Camp Lassen Boy Scout
camp, and the upcoming repair of Caper Acres at Bidwell Park; and
WHEREAS, Company A of the 579th Engineers has relocated from the Chico fairgrounds
to 2415 Tom Polk Avenue in Chico, and will host an open house and grand opening ceremony on
August 12, 1995.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board, on its own behalf, and on
behalf of the residents of Butte County, wishes to express to Company A of the 579th Engineers,
California National Guard, sincere appreciation for their unselfish dedication and outstanding service
to the residents of Butte County. In recognition, this Board declares August 12, 1995 to be National
Guard Appreciation Day for all of Butte County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 13th day of rune,
1995, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Meyer, Dolan, Hoax, Thomas and Chair McLaughlin
