TO THE P08ITION OF
DEPIITY COUNTY SURVEYOR

WHEREAS, the Business and Professional Code of the State
of California provides at Section 8731 for the licensing of -land
surveyors, exempting, among other, civil engineers who became
registered before January 1, 1982; and,
WHEREAS, Stuart Edell was registered as a civil engineer
before that date; and,
WHEREAS, Article X, Section 3(f) of the Butte County
Charter provides that the County Road Engineer shall also hold and
perform the duties of the office of County Surveyor and Article X
Section 8 of the Butte County Charter provides that the position of
County Road Engineer shall include the office of the Director of
Public Works; and,
WHEREAS, the Government Code of the State of California
provides at Section 24100 the "Every county or district officer,
except a supervisor ar judicial officer, may appoint as many
deputies as are necessary for the prompt and faithful discharge of
the duties of his office . "
NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED AND ORDERED that Stuart
Edell be appointed to the position of Deputy County Surveyor.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of
Supervisors this 27th day of June, 1995 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Meyer, Dolan, Houx, '~~omas and Chaiz McLaughlzn
